Support for Ukraine:
Second HROMADA conference Strengthening Ukraine: Sharing knowledge for a sustainable future
As part of efforts to rebuild Ukraine and strengthen its socio-economic resilience, the Second HROMADA conference Strengthening Ukraine: Sharing knowledge for a sustainable future took place in Latvia, focusing on creating programs and innovations for Ukraine’s recovery. The event, held at the University of Latvia, attracted diplomats and scholars, including State Secretary Andžejs Viļumsons, who emphasized the importance of uniting efforts and expert knowledge to support Ukraine amid Russia's aggression.
“It is critically important to combine our knowledge and experience to strengthen Ukraine's socio-economic resilience and support its fight against Russian aggression,” Viļumsons stated during the conference opening. He also highlighted the need for the international community to continue its support for Ukraine, especially during these challenging times.
Among the attendees was Veronika Chekaliuk, a scholar and practitioner in the field of image-making from Ukraine. She contributed to the discussion on Ukraine's recovery and shared her vision of shaping Ukraine’s image globally, stressing the importance of international communication in attracting global media and support from the international community. “Words are weapons! We need to talk more about Ukraine and informally engage supporters for Ukraine,” she emphasized.
Danish-Ukrainian speaker Lesya Ignatyk-Eriksen, the General Director and Director of NordicUkraineInvest in Scandinavia, Copenhagen, discussed experiences in Denmark and presented the work of Ukrainian organizations in the country, which added valuable insights to the conversation.
The conference gathered representatives from governments, academia, experts, and non-governmental organizations from the Baltic and Northern European countries, addressing key issues of Ukraine’s recovery, particularly in the areas of infrastructure, economy, and social integration.
For those unable to attend in person, the conference was streamed live.
